We built the interior as ILM built theirs at least as far as the majority of them were including the pyro versions. Had ILM had put a Snoopy figurine in the cockpit we would have to. It's suspected that the Tie killer has a figure in it but the cockpit has window panes that are now opaque. You can't see inside it anymore. All you can make out is a hint of orange paint that may be a pilot... We're just trying to make things as close to the originals as we can. Jamie |

Re: ANH Red Y... kit
Yeah... what Jamie said..... however it looks like the same 1/24 scale pilot is used thats seen in the X Wings and TIE Fighters... with the proper paint up black for Empire ...orange for rebels the same figure can be used...
One will be included in the kit. This is about as much pilot your gonna fit in there.... will have shoulders/arms of course.. ![]() Steve Last edited by swpropmaker; 07-05-2010 at 09:33 PM. Reason: added picture |

Re: ANH Red Y... kit
Okay, so let's start over. Can someone tell me what we have here? How will this compare to, say, the most definitive Y-wing used in the films? Are the yellow Y-wings that different from red ones? Are these here still limited to Red squadrons or will they (or one of them) be yellow? Are red ones real (they don't ring a bell)? Are these less detailed than yellow ones? I have heard of at least one other studio scale Y-wing that has been available in the past. (I always miss out which is why I'm jonzing over this one.) How would this new one differ from the older ones on the market--besides simply being available? Most of this conversation seems to fly over my head, but I would definitely like a really nice SS Y-wing if I can get one.

Re: ANH Red Y... kit
A fan-built Y-wing was used in RotJ and is quite different to the originals. And then there are the rougher versions used for explosions. I can't work out what you mean by the second qustion, but everything's explained pretty clearly on page 1 of the thread.

Re: ANH Red Y... kit
I almost hate to say this but... Buy the kit and get all the reference you need... I'm kinda kidding there... the kit WILL be as close as can be made... I have no doubt to the skill and dedication going into making these as perfect as they can be. Altough the PAINT and weather reference THAT would be very useful... Perhaps a color guide and strong "suggestions" can be made utilizing the published reference, with insight gained from the unpublised ??? THAT would be very cool! best of both worlds - sharing the info without breaking any confidences.. BUT a LOT of work to do in sufficient detail to replicate any one of these paint jobs, let alone 4 different ones... Perhaps a 3d model??? Jedi Dade |

Re: ANH Red Y... kit
Well, I have the reference needed for these birds (hell, I took a boat load of the pics myself), and I am at least doing the Red Y paint up... so not to sound too bombastic, but if it's a good job on my part, you can use that as a reference... I'm sure Steve, Jamie, et al will let you all know if it's wrong - I expect no less!!

Jason, please blow us out of the ball park!! I'm sure something like this won't ever come around again as far as the Y or for that matter any of our future endeavors in my lifetime. Our group has invested many years and a ton of money to be able to get us where we are today. And I'm not just talking about the Y. I'm personally looking forward to the day when I can just sit back and enjoy the models I've been involved with helping to create... To date it's not an option as there is a lot of work to be done yet. Jamie |

I know you will Jason! I don't know about you but my head hurts as does my body from ID'ing parts and photo-shopping for weeks on end... John C can kick a man down when it comes to finding parts... LOL Not to mention I have assemblies to submit ASAP. No I love it; other wise I wouldn't do it. But at some point it would be nice to just enjoy the models you know... Jamie |
