I'm sure I've asked this question before but can't find it if I have so I'll ask again. What is the OD size of the tube for the cockpit?

    Thanks tk1608.

3 inches? I didn't think it was that big. Are you sure that's not the circumference?

I'm off to the hardware store soon. I hope they have something I can use since we don't have an EMA place here in Australia.

Unfortunately, the hardware store proved a dead end as did a major plumbing supply chain. The closest pipe I could find to 3in was 80mm (8cm) which is 4-5mm too wide.

Might have to look at sourcing a length of suitable pipe from overseas.

I know of a place that's local for me. They sell 3" acrylic tube, this is what I have for mine.

    Doh.

Never thought about acrylic. I was thinking PVC. Will check a known supplier where I buy my styrene sheets from.

Thanks for the memory jog, Scratchy.

I know this forum is a few years old, but it has inspired me to give this a go. Beautiful work my friend! Truly inspiring. I am having trouble figuring out the height of my falcon. May I ask how tall you made your ribs to give me the curve of the hull?

My ribs are 35mm at the highest point, and the curve tapers off to nothing. You've got to check this yourself though to see if you agree. I worked it out depending on styrene thickness etc and that's what I came up with. It's all subjective this stuff...

    Hope it helps

    Cheers

Is there anyone who casts parts in bulk for a 32in? It becomes an expensive exercise when buying kits and are unable to cast the parts yourself.

Cory, "mensaboy", over on resin illuminati is doing a set of resin parts taken from the entex kit....gearbox parts etc...
It's a start...I dunno if he's doing anything else, but you could ask him.

    Cheers

Started to buy kits a few years ago and still on the hunt. Where do those engine vent rings come from? They look like castings. and how does one make a cockpit I know that it's patterned after a Dixie cup but does anybody know what size? are the answers already post here? Maybe I missed them.

Hey guys, thanks yet again for all the kind words..

Just a few more pics...all painting is done now..even the dreaded splatter..

A quick lighting test...they haven't been on for about 3 years.. they still work..
The engine light isn't as bright as I hoped, but anyhoo..pics..

This is to light up the strip lights on the back wall..

so you get this..you get the idea..

    scratched interior

    Dashboard..

Ozzy sent me his brilliant graphics, so I printed them out onto decal paper..

    And applied them like this..

Looks pretty good I reckon..Big thanks to Ozzy..

After the decals had dried I dusted a bit of semi flat clear over them. I then made holes in the wall and put fibers in. It's the first time I've ever done this in any model..

This is it with the light from the window showing where the holes are.

I'm gonna add some red white and blue LEDs to it...hopefully I'll be able to fit them in the space behind the round cabinet light you saw earlier..

    Very close to total completion...

    Cheers guys

    Phil
Could you tell me what you used to put all the random tiny little black circles and double lines or markings that are all over the falcon? You can see them in the first couple of images in this post. They don't look like brush strokes.
