WOW!!!! very exciting stuff![]()
*************UPDATE 6-24-12***************
Ok this week I ground all of that nasty foam out of the secondary section, if I had to do it agian I would have sheeted it like the saucer. I think my eyes still have foam particles in them..........yuk! Got it rough with bondo, will get the shape a little more refined this week. I made the decision to get the upper saucer section rough shaped, glassed and primered before I get too carried away shaping the rest of the secondary hull. And I am going to have to make up some kind of scaffolding to keep this bad boy straight and level while I'm building it.
Heres some of the pictures that I am using for reference, a second or more sets of eyes is helpful. Let me know if you guys see anything off.
Thanks again for looking!
She is beautiful! I can not wait to see the end result.
Got the upper saucer mated to the lower and sent off to my pappa to fiberglass. Trying to get my pics from facebook here not sure if it's going to work, so sorry if you can't see anything. https://m.facebook.com/home.php?refi...00004040802672
Wow! Makes my want to take a crack at my REL 1/650.

Thanks for the tech assistance everyone! Glad you like the build. More pics this weekend.

OH BABY. I love the D.
It's giving me the urge to continue on with my REL 1/650 one too.

Okay, got the upper saucer section shaped, fiberglassed, primered and sanded! I couldnt wait to cut out the neck section to see how it fits. Got the shuttlebay area and observation lounge started. Once I can get the shape of the main hull where I want it I will get to shaping the secondary hull.
Thanks to everyone looking!
P.S. this thing is getting heavy! Definately need to make parts with the armature glassed in.
Very impressive; this is fast becoming the most interesting build i've seen on this forum![]()
I was wondering are you going to mold this or is it going to be a one off. if your going to mold it, i was thinking you might want to secure the pattern down to a board so the shape stays true.
Good point! I will be bracing the two saucers straight and flat before molding them and then I will be bracing the molds as well. Once I get to parts I am going to have an armature similar to the original to fiberglass into the parts while still in the molds. That way my parts stray straight and no warping! My dad has been building boats, waterslides, canopies, car parts, golf car bodies,rc airplanes like this for over 30 years and had no problems! Thanks for looking everyone, you keep me motivated!
It’s so wonderful to see a masterpiece like this being built.
This is fabulous, and I don't use the f-word lightly. I love that you found a practical application for the Enterprise blueprints.
Looking great!!! I'll be following this thread to see how it turns out!!
