Hey guys this is my first thread although I've been viewing for a while now. I'm starting a rather ambitious project and need some advice. I'm trying to make a collection of every single variant of clone trooper helmet there is. I've been searching for weeks and have just about all the pep files but there is one major roadblock I'm running into and that is how big to make the helmets. The helmets were all designed for the same person seeing as they were clones so all of them have relatively similar dimensions. According to the MR clone trooper phase II helmet it is 13.5" for that design. This is HUGE when fully built though. The pep file for phase II is built to 350 mm (MR size) but it seems as if 260 - 280 mm is a far more in proportion size. Does anyone know why the canon size is so large and what would be the most appropriate size for making all of my helmets too?

(I'm 5'11", same as a Clone)

These are customer builds. They are from Sheri's Hot Rockets, which are high-powered flying kits, however I am building them for my customers 1/48 manned space flight display. There are some issues with them. The customer started the Saturn Ib and I have a lot of sanding and touch up to do, haha. But the kit has other issues. Firstly the boost protective cover/capsule and launch escape system are really bad recasts of the old Revell kit. The white ones are from the kit. The tan one is scratchbuilt, and you can see the difference in detail. I built up a new master with styrene and urethane foam for the BPC and scratchbuilt a new LES rocket. I'm still engineering the truss work for the LES... I need 2 copies, plus I want one for myself, so I was thinking about kitting these parts, as there isn't a really accurate 1/48 BPC out there....

I scratchbuilt the 2 SLA adaptors. They are 3 plys of .020 styrene sheet over styrene bulkheads and mailing tube inners. The service modules were off the shelf, supplied by the customer. Lastly, he wanted these rockets to look fairly basic. If you've ever seen Nick Proach's models, something similar to those, not a lot of detail. My boost protective covers are way more detailed than he asked for, but I simply couldn't use those for a static display. Thanks for looking.

I have a Master Replicas Luke ESB blaster that I got for next to nothing a year or so ago and I want to accurize it with as many real vintage parts as possible. I want to retain the Mauser C96 body, the flash hider, the scope bracket and the knob on the bracket (unless there's a better one out there). I'm keeping the base Mauser replica because cosmetically, it seems to be a really accurate replica compared to a Denix and I can't find or afford an MGC. Besides, the Luke blaster was based on a real Mauser anyway, not an MGC. I have a couple of real vintage M19 scopes (1 with its bolts) on the way and I'm hoping to get some of the accurate 30-line wood grips they plan to offer over in the Han Solo ANH conversion thread. I'm searching for the model parts for the left side of the gun, too.

I'd like to remove all the bits and pieces from the Mauser, strip the awful gloss black paint off the gun body, replace the numberless sight with a real sight, and then blue the whole thing before reassembling it. My problem is that I just can't figure out how to easily disassemble the thing! I don't want to get too rough with it until i know what i'm doing. So far, i've been able to remove a pin holding the sight on(still can't remove the sight, though) and I've unscrewed and gotten rid of the Master Replicas M19 scope and I've removed the plastic grips. There's one more pin I can see in the shell ejection area, but I haven't gotten it to budge yet. Not sure whether to hammer it out or drill it, but i'll probably be able to take care of that. The flash hider spins but I can't pull it off. Ii've heard there's a screw under a plastic plug in the barrel that has to be uncovered and removed. I also can't figure out how to remove the knob holding the bracket on--I've pulled and turned and twisted it and it won't budge. Almost ready to take the pliers to it, but I'm nervous--no replacement available if I mess up that piece.

So, does anyone out there have any advice, instructions or photos that might help? Thanks!

Hey Half-life fans out there! So... I'm planning a half-life movie, and this is my custom marine gas mask I made. (I'm still waiting on a combat vest and helmet.) Anyways, I hope you enjoy, and feel free to comment on what you think I can improve. Also, if you have any ideas for a good title, I kinda need one. (All the good titles are already taken.) I will be uploading more photos as I make some more progress, but for now, I hope you enjoy. Thanks, Evan.

Should I use a silicone mold? Should I cast it in fiberglass resin and then layer in sheets?

Hello everyone. I'm sure that everyone has seen the Mobieus Viper Mk VII kit built on here before, but I figured I'd throw some pictures up as it's the first serious build I've attempted. By serious I mean puttying/sanding seams, and modifying the kit not just building it out of the box. It's basically my learning model for a lot of techniques before I move on to something I like better. I'm calling it a Mk VII Copperhead, because once I find a donor kit I like in the appropriate scale, I'm going to make it a heavy assault variant of the Mk VII. Plus it sounds cool... So anyway, enough of my rambling, on to the pictures, the part everyone really likes.
So that's where I'm at for now. I'm moving much slower than I imagine a lot of the more experienced builders on here do, especially for a kit with so few actual parts, but its a learning process. Even though I don't care a fig for the Mk VII, I still want to produce something I can be proud of. Anyway, feel free to post any suggestions for techniques I can try out, or other comments.

I had thought I'd already put a thread up on this, but apparently not! I picked up this Revell TIE at Modelzone in the sale, paid something like £8 I think.

Out the box, the sprues are big.

I had thought I'd already put a thread up on this, but apparently not! I picked up this Revell TIE at Modelzone in the sale, paid something like £8 I think.

Out the box, the sprues are big.

Once built, it's a good size. Something like a 140mm wingspan

The colours are towards the ESB TIE I think.
Also, the details are pretty good, quite clean and should paint up well.

Primed and ready

Masking this was a total PITA; I first gave the wings a coat of Citadel black primer and then masking taped off the majority. Any tiny sections were coated with masking fluid.
I also laid down a grey/beige mix. If anyone is interested, I used a 1:1:1 mix of Astronomican Grey, Denheb Stone, and Skull White

That's me working at my friend's house

And that's where I'm at. Not a big project, just a nice side thing. Should be done quickly, and will probably look good too; it's a very displayable size.
